Arthur “Jack” Roberts, age 81 of New Glarus passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on August 9, 1943 the son of James and Olga (Baumgartner) Roberts. Jack graduated from New Glarus High School in 1962 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following his discharge, he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1970. Jack became a third-generation pharmacist and drug store owner when he began working with his father. On November 3, 1967 Jack was united in marriage to Bonnie Elmer at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Jack operated Roberts Drug Store until 2005 when he sold the business to Hometown Pharmacy, he would continue as a manager for Hometown until his retirement in 2012. Jack was also part of a group of investors who renovated the Cities Service Station into a cheese and gift shop which is now the Maple Leaf Cheese and Chocolate Haus. He was very involved in the community of New Glarus serving as a director for the Bank of New Glarus, V.P. of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the Swiss Dancers, Jaycees, Edelweiss Chalet Country Club, and the Swiss United Church of Christ. Jack enjoyed bicycling, and he toured Europe several times on his bike along with his Swiss buddies. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Bonnie of 57 years, children Michael (Cindy) Roberts and Nicole (Sal) Roberts-Albanese, grandchildren Jack, Benjamin, and Clara Roberts and Grace and Caroline Velaj. He is further survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Julie & Michael Bear and their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean Roberts.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date.
