Arthur D. Blum, age 89, of Monroe, died on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on January 14, 1931 in Washington, Township the son of Robert and Katherine (Aebly) Blum.

Arthur and Betty R. Crotty were united in marriage on January 31, 1953 in Gratiot.

Art was a self-employed carpenter and operated Moonlight Construction for many years, he also was co-owner of Baker’s Maple Grove Inn & Blum Hall for 23 years.

Art served in the National Guard, serving from 1950-1957.

Art was a member of St. Victor’s Catholic Church and Loyal Order of Moose #754 in Monroe. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Monroe; children, Denny (Andrea) Blum of Madison, Dan (Carrie) Blum of Monroe; 4 grandchildren: Ian (Lisa) Blum, Molly (Collin) Grotenhuis, Dylan (Samantha Crombine), Trevor (Alexandra) Blum; 2 great grandchildren, Finley and Cooper.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willis Blum; sisters, Kay Statz, Mardell Erickson and Carol Lanz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 21st from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and the family has asked no handshakes or hugging.

A memorial fund is being established in Arthur’s name.
