Arlene N. Handel, age 92, of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at SSM Monroe Hospital. Arlene was born on August 23, 1932 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Ervin and Nettie (Narveson) Dietzman. She was a 1951 graduate of Rewey, WI High School and was united in marriage to Florian R. “Bud” Handel on December 11, 1954 at the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.
Arlene was a member of the Women of the Moose #754, Garden Club, and the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed playing cards, and traveling (especially cruising).
She is survived by six children, Marilyn (Bruce) Cline of Monroe, Sharon Handel of Roanoke, IN, Rosemary Handel of Monroe, Terry (Connie) Handel of Sycamore, IL, Diane Handel of Wake Forest, N.C., and Rita (Steve) Schriver of Snohomish, WA. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Rossmore (Shirley) Dietzman of Jefferson, WI, Homer (Helen) Dietzman of Mt. Horeb; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Florian, on May 9, 2020; a brother, Roger; and an infant brother, Harland.
Private family services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Rev. Jeff Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
