Wreck shuts down Wis. 69

TOWN OF CLARNO — A crash involving four vehicles and a deer shut down Wisconsin 69 south of Monroe for about 45 minutes early Thursday, April 2, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies, the Monroe Fire Department and Green County EMS were dispatched at 5:42 a.m. to the accident in the N1000 block of Wis. 69, Town of Clarno. The Green County Highway Department assisted with traffic control.

Alberto Morales, 25, Leaf River, Illinois, was northbound when he hit a deer in the road. The deer remained in the northbound lane and was hit by a vehicle behind Morales driven by Eduardo Vasquez-Martinez, 40, Freeport.

A third northbound vehicle, driven by Pedro Tlapa-Castillo, 31, Freeport, then rear-ended Vasquez-Martinez and a fourth northbound vehicle, driven by Fausto Morales-Torres, 31, Cedarville, in turn rear-ended Tlapa-Castillo.

Morales reported no injuries, while Vasquez-Martinez reported a minor injury. Both their vehicles were driven from the scene. 

Tlapa-Castillo reported no injuries but two adult passengers in his vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic ER. His vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed.

Morales-Torres reported a minor injury. His vehicle sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment. It was towed. The deer was found deceased.
