MONROE - A former Monroe woman pleaded no contest Wednesday to charges of manufacturing methamphetamine with her family in 2015.

Christina Lee Orellana, 42, currently of Montfort, pleaded no contest to a Class D felony count of manufacturing methamphetamines and two Class I felony counts of purchasing more than 7.5 grams of pseudoephedrine, a common methamphetamine precursor, within a 30-day period.

Orellana did not make a plea on several other charges, including a Class H felony count of possessing methamphetamine waste, a Class I count of maintaining a drug trafficking place and four additional counts of purchasing pseudoephedrine.

Orellana was charged in January 2016 after agents of the State Line Area Narcotics Team searched a residence in the 2400 block of Ullom Road, Town of Cadiz, in late December 2015. At the scene, agents found more than 400 meth manufacturing bottles and other paraphernalia.

Orellana's husband, Jose R. Orellana, 50, Monroe, was arrested at the scene, along with her daughter, Alexandra Orellana, 22, South Wayne. A third person, Anthony L. Herrera, 26, Monroe, was also arrested.

According to a police report, the search of the Orellanas' residence was the conclusion of a months-long investigation into the family's pseudoephedrine-purchasing habits. Christina Orellana had a legal prescription for 7.2 grams of pseudoephedrine monthly but consistently bought more than 7.2 grams several months throughout 2015.

Orellana's family also bought pseudoephedrine products during the same year.

Alexandra Orellana was sentenced to three years of probation for her involvement in the meth lab, while Jose Orellana was sentenced to three years in prison. Jose Orellana's lawyer said at his sentencing last August that Jose and Alexandra Orellana blamed Christina for introducing meth to the family.

Green County District Attorney Craig Nolen recommended a sentence of nine months in jail conditional on a six-year probation term, although he requested a pre-sentencing investigation to determine an appropriate sentence.

Orellana's sentencing hearing will take place April 13.
