DARLINGTON - Police say a Darlington woman was driving under the influence of a pharmaceutical drug when she hit a utility pole, injuring herself and her two daughters.
Stacey MacManus, 30, was driving her daughters, ages 8 and 9, to school Tuesday when she hit a utility pole near the intersection of Galena Street and Hill Street, according to Darlington Police Chief Jason King. An officer on patrol came across the accident scene at 7:30 a.m.
MacManus and her daughters were taken by Rural Medical Ambulance Service to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, treated for minor injuries and released.
MacManus has been referred to the Lafayette County District Attorney's Office for a criminal charge of operating while under the influence of a controlled substance with children in the car. She was also cited for driving without vehicle insurance and failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
