MONROE - A South Wayne woman pleaded no contest Wednesday to two charges related to a meth lab discovered in Cadiz township in December.
Alexandra A. Orellana, 22, pleaded no contest to a Class I felony charge of possession of methamphetamines and a Class I felony charge of purchasing more than 7.5 grams of pseudoephedrine within a 30-day period.
Both charges stem from an incident on Dec. 28 when drug enforcement agents found a homemade meth lab at a Cadiz residence. Two Monroe men, Jose R. Orellana, 50, and Anthony L. Herrera, 26, were also arrested after the investigation.
Green County District Attorney Gary Luhman said Alexandra Orellana had purchased products containing a total of 9.6 grams of pseudoephedrine - a common methamphetamine precursor - over the course of four purchases within a single month.
Orellana did not make any plea regarding two other pseudoephedrine charges and a charge of knowingly possessing methamphetamine waste.
Luhman recommended a 180-day jail sentence accompanied by three years of probation and 130 hours of community service.
Green County Circuit judge James Beer accepted Orellana's plea but ordered a pre-sentencing investigation to be carried out before determining Orellana's sentence. Until her sentencing on June 23, Orellana will remain free on bond.
Jose Orellana and Anthony Herrera will both appear in court on May 26. Jose Orellana is scheduled to make a plea on that date.
