MONROE - A rural Monroe woman was arrested late Wednesday, June 7, after she allegedly stole a vehicle from a residence south of the city, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
Sara M. Lawrence, 20, was jailed on charges of motor vehicle theft and misdemeanor bail jumping after deputies responded to a report at 11:34 p.m. that she took a vehicle without the owner's consent from a residence in the N100 block of Wisconsin 69 in the Town of Clarno.
Monroe police apprehended her on Wis. 69 at 10th Street, where deputies took her into custody.
Police arrested her passenger, Dennis E. Carpenter, 19, Monroe, on a warrant issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Carpenter was also jailed.
Lawrence faces a Class H felony charge of taking and driving a vehicle without consent and a Class A misdemeanor charge of bail jumping. She made her initial appearance in court Thursday afternoon.
The vehicle she was driving was returned undamaged to its owner, according to deputies.
