MONROE - Join the students of Monroe Middle School as they take the stage this weekend along with two professional actors in Prairie Fire Children's Theatre's original musical production of "The Wizard of Oz."

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, in the Monroe Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $3 per person and can be purchased at the door.

Featuring original music and script by Daniel Nordquist, "The Wizard of Oz" continues Prairie Fire Children's Theatre tradition of presenting classic fairy tales with a twist. Based on L. Frank Baum's classic American fairy tale, Prairie Fire's version is set in contemporary America (at the beginning), and it is from that vantage point that the tornado takes Dorothy over the rainbow to Oz. The set and costume design are by PFCT's Executive Director Deborah Pick.
