MONROE - It may seem like this mild fall weather could last forever but winter parking regulations go into effect today.
Between midnight and 7 a.m. every day, any vehicles parked on the street must do so on the appropriate side of the street for the given day. On odd-numbered days, the vehicle must be parked on the odd side of the street; on even-numbered days, on the even side.
Streets on the Square and in a one-block radius from the Square are exempt from the regulations.
Fines are $20, which will increase for multiple offenses.
Residents are also advised to take heed of roads designated as snow routes. If any snowfall greater than 2 inches occurs, all vehicles must be removed from these roads to make way for snow removal.
Winter parking regulations continue until the end of March.
Furthermore, it is a violation of city ordinances to remove snow from private property and put it onto another's property or into the street.
