FREEPORT - Winneshiek Players announced a reading of "8," a play chronicling the trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
"8" is an account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Hollingsworth v. Perry), the case filed to overturn Proposition 8, which disallowed homosexuals to marry in California.
Winneshiek Players will present one performance of "8" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Winneshiek Playhouse, 228 W. Clark St. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling 815-232-7023 or emailing tickets@wplay.org.
