A slate of candidates will appear on area ballots this spring for village and school board elections in area communities. Here's a breakdown of area races:
New Glarus
- The village board has three at-large seats up for election. Incumbents Kevin Budsberg, Greg Thoemke and Joan Betz are running unopposed.
- The school board has two at-large seats up for election. Incumbent Gail Anderson and newcomer Ellyn Runde are running unopposed.
Monticello
- The village board has three at-large seats up for election and two candidates. Incumbents Andy Henning and Randy Halvorsen are running.
- The school board has three candidates running for three open at-large seats. Newcomer Robert Harvey and incumbents Julie Havens and Ronald Blumer are running.
Albany
- The village board has three at-large seats up for election and just two candidates. Incumbents Virginia Detra and Rodney Sutherland are running for re-election.
- The school board has three people running for two open seats. Incumbents Edward J. Maksym Jr. and Andy Knauf are running, as is newcomer Adam Kopp.
Juda
- The school board has five people running for three at-large seats. Incumbents Dennis Pfingsten, Deena Adkins and Joann Goecks are running, as well as newcomers Douglas Baum and Eric Makos.
South Wayne
- The village board has two at-large seats up for election. Incumbents Dale Carolan and Barbara Berget are running unopposed.
Argyle
- There are three trustee seats open and four people running. Incumbent Susie Nelson and newcomers Andrew Chenous, Ismael Hinojosa and James Larson are running.
- The school board has two people running for two at-large seats. Incumbents Stan Bigelow and Loren Bruehlman are running unopposed.
Browntown
- The village held its caucus Tuesday, Jan. 17. Incumbents James Dorsey and Cheri Hodgson were nominated for the two trustee seats up for election.
Blanchardville
- Blanchardville held its caucus Monday, Jan. 23 for three trustee seats. Incumbents John Boyle, Sam Harned and Paul Thompson are running for re-election.
Brodhead
- Mayor Douglas Pinnow is running against challenger Ric Genthe for the mayor's seat. Incumbent Shelly Kuhl is running against Steve Peterson in Ward 4. In Ward 5, incumbent Richard Hale and challengers Jay K. Bohan and Mark W. Coplien are running. No one is running in Wards 6, 7 or 8. Incumbent Roger Searls is running for the 4-year municipal judge term.
- The school board has four people running for two seats. Incumbents Teresa Earleywine and Mike Krupke and newcomers Bruce Kloepping and Howard W. Balche Jr. are running.
Darlington
- All three aldermanic wards are up for election. Incumbent Cynthia D. Corley is running unopposed for Aldermanic District 1 (Wards 1 and 2); incumbent Stephen J. Pickett is running unopposed for Aldermanic District 2 (Wards 3 and 4); and incumbent John A. Sonsalla is running unopposed for Aldermanic District 3 (Wards 5 and 6.)
Black Hawk School Board
- The school board has two people running for three at-large seats. Incumbents Jason Figi, Browntown, and Kerry Holland, Gratiot, are running. No one is running for the third seat.
Pecatonica School Board
- The school board has two people running for two seats. Incumbents Steve Demler, Blanchardville, and Roy Ruegsegger, Blanchardville, are running unopposed.
