Water maintenance continues in June

MONROE - Monroe's water utility continues to perform routine maintenance, including hydrant flushing, valve turning and sewer jetting and televising.

The next area scheduled for sewer cleaning and televising is from June 1 through July 1 from south of 13th Street and east of 28th Avenue, including 13th Street.

Hydrant flushing and valve turning will be ongoing from April 17 through Oct. 31.

Customers may see some discoloration in their water. The city says the water is safe and that the discoloration is caused by encrusted minerals being flushed from the walls of the mains. To avoid discolored water, turn on the cold tap and let the water run until it becomes clear.

More information is available by calling the Monroe Utilities office at 608-329-2483 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
