MONROE - Green County officials said Friday that Gov. Scott Walker will not be making his scheduled 9 a.m. visit Monday to Monroe, as planned, due to a late scheduling conflict with a funeral.
However, in his place, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and Wisconsin Secretary of Tourism Stephanie Klett, will be in Monroe as part of the statewide kick-off of National Tourism Week - and to present local officials with a Joint Effort Marketing grant award for the county-wide destination branding project.
The event will be at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center and Green County Welcome Center, 2108 7th Ave.
The state Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant is for a county-wide destination and marketing project started by members of several county and municipal departments and organizations.
In April, Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett presented a $9,039 Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant to Green County Tourism to promote the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit "Key Ingredients: American by Food."
Presented in partnership with the Wisconsin Humanities Council, the exhibit runs from May 6 through June 17, 2011 at the Brodhead Memorial Public Library.
