MONROE - A Brodhead man was sentenced to prison Thursday, Nov. 29, on his 7th conviction of driving while intoxicated.

Shawn A. Wahler, 44, pleaded no contest to the Class G felony and was sentenced to three years in prison and five years of extended supervision, according to Green County Circuit Court records.

He will be eligible for a substance-abuse program in prison after two years of incarceration.

Wahler was arrested after a two-vehicle collision late Oct. 5 at the intersection of Wisconsin 69 and 8th Street. The other driver was cited for failure to stop for the flashing red lights at the intersection.

An officer noted in his report that Wahler had bloodshot, glassy eyes. Wahler told the officer he'd had about seven beers before driving that night. He was taken to Monroe Clinic for a draw of blood.

Wahler was convicted of driving drunk in Green County in January 1991, July 1991, August 1992, January 2005, December 2009 and April 2010.
