MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department's 26th annual July 4 celebration will be in Twining Park with the theme "When You Wish upon a Star."
The event will feature Kiwanis horse and wagon rides, a Lion's Club petting zoo, carnival games, slow-pitch softball and volleyball tournaments, concession stands, a city band concert and the Fireworks Salute to America Sky Concert, sponsored by Wisconsin Bank & Trust.
Volunteers are needed to help in the carnival or concession areas. Free "When You Wish Upon a Star" July 4th T-shirts will be given to all volunteers.
The volunteer shifts for carnival rides are 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:45 to 3 p.m. and 2:45 to 4:30 p.m. Children who want to volunteer need to be accompanied by an adult.
For the concession stand, adults only are asked to volunteer. The two-hour shifts run from 10:45 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.
