MONROE - Students entering seventh grade and higher are eligible to become library VolunTEENs this summer and help with summer library programs for younger children.

VolunTEEN guides, craft helpers, and game leaders are needed for the Space Camp Adventure, Camp Out @ the Library, and Dream and Create workshops held in June and July. Teens may also volunteer to help host special performers who will be coming to the library this summer: Sharon Peterson's Incredible Bats show, Soda Pups performing dogs, and The Magic of Jim Mitchell.

Students are expected to arrive on time, present a positive attitude, stay focused on their duties, and work together to create a meaningful experience for the younger students enrolled in the grade school age program, Dream Big - Read.

VolunTEEN applications are available now at the Children's Room desk of the Monroe Public Library. Students are asked to check their family's calendar before signing up to help with programs to be sure they can help at the programs in which they are interested. The application needs to completed and signed by both the teen and a parent or guardian who agrees to help the teen be responsible for the hours they agree to work.

Sign-up sheets for each of the Dream Big programs are posted near the Youth Services Desk.

More information regarding VolunTEEN opportunities or programs for children and families is available by calling the Youth Services Department of the Monroe Public Library at (608) 328-7010.
