Village of Albany making application for water loan

MADISON - The Village of Albany is submitting a loan application for funding through the safe drinking water loan program to address deficiencies in their public drinking water system.

The project is for construction of water main replacements, SCADA system upgrades at the water tower and SCADA and equipment upgrades at wells 1 and 2.

These types of actions normally do not involve significant adverse environmental effects, and the department has made a preliminary determination that no further environmental analysis is needed before proceeding with funding the project.

The department is soliciting public comments regarding the decision and potential impacts of these projects.

Written and verbal comments are encouraged. Comments can be sent to Jim Witthuhn, Bureau of Drinking Water and Groundwater, Department of Natural Resources, Box 7921, Madison, WI, 53707 or called in to 608-267-9659 by Sept. 18.

Based on comments received, the department may prepare an environmental analysis before proceeding with the funding process. The analysis would summarize the department's consideration of the impact of the project and reasonable alternatives.
