Victim in fatal crash near Avon, Brodhead identified
Update

TOWN OF AVON — The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department has released the name of the individual that died following a motor vehicle crash on June 22.

Alec Z. Hoffman, 26, Winnebago, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Wis. 81 in the Town of Avon, southeast of Brodhead. Hoffman died as a result of injuries in the crash, the medical examiner’s report said.

“A Ford F350 operated by a 30-year-old male from Marion, IA was driving westbound on W Hwy 81, when he crossed the center line and went into the wrong lane of travel,” the Rock County Sheriff’s Office released in a statement June 23.

The statement said that the Ford attempted to perform “a corrective maneuver” to get back into the westbound lane of travel but was unable to do so.

The Ford struck Hoffman’s Nissan head on, the statement said.

Those riding in the Ford — police reports did not initially say how many — were rushed to local hospitals and were treated for “serious but non-life-threatening injuries.”

The incident remains under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department.
