MONROE - Several key races in Green County were decided today, including the newly created Circuit Court Branch 2 judge position.
Tom Vale, Monroe, narrowly defeated Dan Gartzke, New Glarus, by garnering 3,012 votes, or 51 percent to 2,799 votes, or 48 percent.
Other important races included the City of Monroe Ward 4 City Council race in which Dan DeMuth lost to Jan Lefevre 82 to 127. Lefevre secured 61 percent to DeMuth's 39 percent.
In Albany, voters approved two referendum questions posed by the School District seeking up to $2 million in general obligation bonds and to exceed the tax revenue caps for the 2009-10 school year. Question 1 was approved 539 to 257, or 68 percent of voters in favor of granting bonds to 32 percent opposed, while Question 2 passed 459 to 333, or 58 percent to 42 percent.
