USDA has loans for home repairs

DODGEVILLE - The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development office has funds available for home repair needs for very-low income homeowners in Green, Grant, Iowa, Lafayette and Dane counties.

Loans are made at an interest rate of 1 percent and may be repaid over 20 years. These loans can be made to improve or modernize a home, make accessibility updates, or remove health and safety hazards, including rehabilitating or replacing storm doors, windows, steps, furnaces, water heaters, foundations or roofs.

Grants may be available for those who are 62 years or older.
