MONROE - Two men with five convictions each of driving drunk were arrested again on the same charge over the weekend.

Paul M. Elsner, 52, New Glarus, and Jacob J. Prochnow, 32, Cottage Grove, face felony charges of driving while intoxicated.

Elsner was arrested following a minor two-car crash in the parking lot of the Culver's restaurant in New Glarus, 1405 Wisconsin 69, at 6:19 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. He was also cited for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

According to police, he was backing a 2004 Dodge Dakota when he collided with a 2007 Chevy Silverado driven by Jeremy Yeoman, 36, Freeport, Ill., causing minor damage.

Elsner was reportedly driving with a 10-year-old passenger. After his arrest, Elsner was taken to Monroe Clinic for a blood draw and then jailed.

His driver's license was valid at the time of the arrest, according to police. Court records indicate Elsner's most recent DWI conviction in Wisconsin stems from an arrest July 2000 and involved injuries.

Charges against Elsner had not yet been filed in Green County Circuit Court as of Monday afternoon.

Prochnow was charged with DWI after deputies stopped him at 1:24 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, for making a U-turn and driving the wrong way on the Wis. 69 to Wis. 11 westbound ramp in Monroe.

He was also cited for driving with a revoked license, having open intoxicants in the vehicle and driving the wrong way on a divided highway, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.

State court records indicate he was arrested for his second DWI when he was 23, his third at 24 and his fourth and fifth at 28.

Prochnow's signature bond was set Monday at $3,000 during his initial appearance in court, with the conditions that he not drink or enter establishments that sell primarily alcohol.
