Two men arrested for home invasion

TOWNSHIP OF FAYETTE - Two 25-year-old men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a residence in the Township of Fayette.

According to a Lafayette County Sheriff's Department news release, Steven T. Wiegel, Darlington, and Joseph A. White, Dodgeville, were tentatively charged with one count of burglary and two counts of criminal trespassing to a dwelling.

The sheriff's office was notified of an ongoing home invasion on Tuesday in the Township of Fayette. Deputies arrived at the residence and were informed the suspects had fled the scene. A short time later, Wiegel and White were arrested at a nearby vacant residence. Wiegel and White were jailed pending court.

The matter remains under investigation. Deputies, Darlington police and their K-9 unit, Belmont police and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens assisted at the scene.
