TOWN OF EXETER - Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash that took place at about 10 p.m. Sunday of County CC less than a mile north of Tunnel Road, according to Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick in a press release Monday.
Amber M. Moyer, 19, Monroe was pronounced dead at the scene by Green County Deputy Coroner Kris Hasse. Corey J. Becker, 18, Monroe, was pronounced dead at University of Wisconsin Hospital.
According to Roderick, Moyer was a passenger in a 1998 Chrysler two-door vehicle driven by Lucas D. Hagen, 16, Monroe, which crossed the center line and hit a 1997 Honda two-door vehicle driven by William R. Viney, 18, Monroe. Moyer was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Becker was a passenger in Viney's vehicle. He wasn't wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to the University of Wisconsin Hospital by REACT Helicopter.
Hagen was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash, but Viney was. Both drivers were transported to UW Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The vehicles received extensive damage and were towed.
Speed and inattentive driving may be contributing factors to the crash; alcohol does not appear to be a cause, Roderick said.
The crash is under investigation by the Green County Sheriff's Department, the Green County coroner's office and the Wisconsin Sate Patrol.
Roderick said the State Patrol will perform a reconstruction of the crash to try to determine the cause.
The deaths of Moyer and Becker were Green County's second and third traffic fatalities in 2010.
