Two arrested in NG for drugs, child neglect

NEW GLARUS — Two people arrested in New Glarus last week face drug charges and child neglect.

Deven T. Highland, 35, of New Glarus, and Raven A. Neath, 34, also of New Glarus, face multiple felony charges.

At 9:09 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 27, the New Glarus Police Department, assisted by the State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) and the Green County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, executed a search warrant at a residence on Windlach Street in the Village of New Glarus as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

“During the investigation, authorities learned that young children were living at the residence,” New Glarus Police Chief Jeff Sturdevant said in a press release. 

The Green County Human Services Drug Endangered Children Unit responded to the scene and is conducting a separate child neglect investigation in coordination with the Green County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.

During the search of the residence, officers seized cocaine, amphetamines, psilocybin, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. As a result of the search warrant and investigation, Highland and Neath were arrested and transported to the Green County Jail. 

The Green County District Attorney’s Office is charging Highland with Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Amphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Psilocybin, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, and two counts of Neglecting a Child.

Neath is charged with Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place and two counts of Neglecting a Child.

All charges are felonies.

Neath is due in court at 1:15 p.m. on April 1 in front Green County Circuit Judge Faun Marie Phillipson.

Highland will be in court on April 7 in front of Green County Circuit Judge Jane Bucher.
