Trick attempt overturns truck, lands teen in hospital with a citation
accident

NEW GLARUS — A teen who wanted to perform a trick with his truck instead ended up in the hospital with a younger boy after flipping his vehicle Friday.

Cade A. Righter, 16, New Glarus, was traveling east in the W7200 block of Wisconsin 39 when he decided to intentionally spin his tires. Green County Sheriff Mark Rohloff said the vehicle traveled roughly 300 yards with its wheels spinning before the 2004 Chevy Silverado pickup went into the ditch.

When the truck front hit an embankment, it flipped. Rohloff said both Cade and passenger Reid T. Righter, 14, New Glarus, were both wearing seatbelts. The truck came to a stop on the road in the opposite direction that it had been traveling.

Both boys were injured in the accident and taken by EMS to the UW Hospital in Madison.

The Silverado sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Cade Righter was recently fined $225.70 for speeding up to 24 mph over the speed limit in a 55 mph zone on July 19, according to court records. He was cited for reckless driving and released pending an appearance in Green County Circuit Court.
