MONROE - The new year will bring with it changes to the Monroe Times' Web site.
When online readers visit www.themonroetimes.com one week from today, they will see an updated and more interactive Web product. The redesigned site will debut at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
The new Web site will continue to feature the local news, sports and photos from The Monroe Times. Visitors will continue to be able to access the site free of charge.
The new site will be updated regularly to include breaking news and updates to local stories. Readers also will be able to interact online with Times staff members through blogs that will be updated daily. Visitors also will be able to comment online on posted stories, or participate in regular news and sports polls.
The site also will give users the ability to search archives for stories from the past. This feature, as well as many others, will be added in the coming weeks and months. Those features will include an interactive community calendar, a 24-hour news forum and video news reports.
"We're extremely excited about this new product and what it will provide for Monroe Times readers locally and around the world," Editor Jeff Rogers said. "The new site will allow us to be a much more interactive and immediate product. Just as we believe the Times made giant strides with its redesigned newspaper product in 2006, I believe we will be making even greater strides as a news organization with our improved Web site."
