MONROE - Main Street Monroe's next Concert on the Square features music by Thirsty Jones, with lead singer Kirstie Kraus set to wow the crowd starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Pulling influences from country, blues, rock and funk, the band is comprised of four Wisconsin natives who have played throughout the Midwest.
In honor of Main Street Monroe's summer theme SuperCows on the Square, everyone is invited to celebrate Super Hero Night by wearing a cape or costume as the cow sponsors and artists are recognized at intermission. Special intermission entertainment by the Handphibians is presented by the John and Katie Baumann Inspiration Project.
The featured nonprofit for the Friday show is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green County, an organization that makes a positive impact on area youth by empowering them to succeed. Their model of one-to-one matches provides ongoing support and supervision and helps to build children's confidence, grades and social skills. The slate of other nonprofit organizations recognized this concert season includes Green Haven Family Advocates, Pleasant View Foundation, Green County EMS and Green County Historical Society.
The Roth Food Truck will be on-site with samples, including loaded baked potato dip and Mediterranean grilled cheese.
Stop in at Heartland Graphics to sign up to win the "Best Seat in the House" contest with premium seating courtesy of Genthe's, plus a dining, beverage and swag package. Sign up all summer; winners are drawn before each show.
In case of rain, the event moves to SLICE. For the latest updates follow "Downtown Monroe Events and News" on Facebook or visit the website mainstreetmonroe.org.
Upcoming events include the Aug. 12 "sunset celebration" night with booths and street entertainers on the inner ring of the south side of the square.
