'The Cemetery Club' to be performed beginning Oct. 19

ORANGEVILLE - The Plum River Playhouse, in conjunction with Northwest Illinois Theatre Coalition will perform seven shows of Ivan Menchell's "The Cemetery Club."

The play tells the story of Ida (played by Sandy Sweitzer), Lucille (played by Melinda Baker) and Doris (played by Barbara Clemmons), who have been friends for years and are all widows. They each have a different view on creating new relationships with men, and meet once a month at the cemetery to visit their deceased husbands' gravesides. Sam (played by Brad Field), a widower, is interested in a new chapter. He escorts Mildred (played by Freda Weis). Weis also directs the comedy.

The play will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19; at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Orangeville Masonic Lodge, 203 W. High St. The cost is $20 for the dessert show. Reservations can be made by calling Monroe Arts Center at (888) 596-249.

Opening performance dates are at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at Christ Lutheran Church, 600 North Main St., Stockton, Ill. Plum River Playhouse tickets may be purchased by contacting the Stockton Banking Center at (815) 947-2000. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Other performances include 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 and at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the Hanover Township Hall, 111 Monroe St., Hanover. Tickets for the Back Street Players may be purchased for $12 at Village Hall, 207 Jefferson St., or by calling (815) 591-3800.
