MONROE - A Texas man charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a child in Albany in 2011 appeared in Green County Circuit Court Thursday.

Jeremy W. Snelson, 34, Kountze, Texas, faces a Class B felony charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child.

Snelson waived extradition from Texas and returned to Green County voluntarily in June.

Snelson's attorney, Guy Taylor, waived Snelson's right to a preliminary hearing Thursday. Snelson's case will now proceed to trial, with his next appearance to take place July 25 for an arraignment.

According to a police report, the victim said Snelson had coerced her into removing her clothes in front of him by offering small rewards. Eventually, Snelson escalated into offering rewards in exchange for sexual acts.

The victim said she had sexual contact with Snelson nearly every other day between Sept. 1, 2011 and April 10, 2013.

After Snelson moved to Texas, he maintained contact with her via Facebook. Their correspondence included sexually explicit photos, which Facebook flagged and reported to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

The maximum possible sentence for Snelson's charge is 40 years in prison.
