SWCAP Head Start programs impacted by federal government shutdown
swcap

Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP) announced on Monday, November 3,  that nine preschool classrooms across Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, and Richland counties are being forced to shut down following a lapse in federal funding. The $3 million grant that was scheduled to arrive on November 1 did not come through due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.

SWCAP’s Head Start program is one of 134 programs nationwide directly affected by the shutdown. While some educational and child service programs may have temporary reserves, SWCAP’s Preschool Classrooms (ages 3—4) and Early Head Start Home Visiting Program will be paused beginning Monday, November 3, until federal operations resume.

“Our top priority remains the children and families we serve,” said SWCAP representatives. “We are committed to providing as much support as possible to those affected during this uncertain time.”
