MONROE - City officials Thursday morning said Wal-Mart has not taken out any permits to move the road that connects Sixth Avenue West with County N north of Wisconsin 11.
But residents are starting to see the arrival of the necessary equipment, and the construction of a temporary graveled parking lot for it.
Wal-Mart hired a road construction company and gave it 90 days to complete the new road once it has received its permit from the city, Monroe Mayor Ron Marsh said.
The road is not allowed to be closed until a permit is granted, he said.
Wal-Mart Ron Fager was not available for comment Thursday morning; he has told The Monroe Times that Wal-Mart will announce a groundbreaking date before store construction begins.
