MONROE - Main Street Monroe announced the lineup for the ninth annual Concerts on the Square to be held in downtown Monroe this summer
The 2015 season is all about variety, organizers said, with eight shows highlighting a variety of musical genres with everything from Americana to Western Swing. A new Concerts on the Square logo is being introduced, with plans to create an official "concert T-shirt" for sale. The concert series will be sponsored by Colony Brands.
New this year at Concerts on the Square is the "Best Seat in the House" promotion, with concert-goers signing up in advance for a prize drawing for premium seating courtesy of Genthe Appliance, along with a dining, beverage, and swag package for winners. Registration will be at Heartland Graphics. Sign up will be available all summer, as winners will be drawn prior to each show.
Also new this year will be special intermission entertainment at select shows courtesy of the John and Katie Baumann Inspire Project, celebrating the works of community volunteers and philanthropists for their leadership and activism. Throughout the season there will be theme nights and surprises.
Monroe Park and Recreation Department is offering a free drop-in for kids from 6 to 9 p.m. at select shows; advance registration required.
