MONROE - High school students from Albany, Argyle, Monroe, Monticello, New Glarus and Juda will participate in the "Passport to Reality" program, in which middle and high school students experience many of life's challenges through scenarios designed to teach the risks and challenges they face in real life.

The event will be from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Monroe High School practice gym, 1600 26 St.

Developed and sponsored by the Green County United Prevention Professional's for Youth (G.U.P.P.Y), event participants each will receive a passport to begin their journey through life.

Drawing cards will lead players through simulated events that involve topics such as drugs, alcohol, and tobacco issues; dating and relationships; and the financial consequences of poor decisions.

Over 100 community professionals and volunteers from the Green County area will be on hand to help the students learn more about the importance of positive choices and the many resources available in the community to support them.
