MONROE - Work is scheduled to begin Monday on the 8th/9th Street reconstruction project. The area under construction will be along 8th Street from Wisconsin 69 to 11th Avenue; and along 9th Street from 11th Avenue to 20th Avenue.

Improvements will include replacing water and sanitary sewers and the bridge. New storm sewer, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalks, pavement, decorative street lighting, traffic signals; and landscaping will also be installed.

The Monroe Times will include regular updates on the project from Al Gerber, engineering supervisor for the city. An overview of the project, including a map showing detours, will be published in Saturdays edition.

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce will host an informational meeting on the project from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, March 11 at City Hall. Gerber will explain a project timeline.
