Engineering Supervisor, City of Monroe

During the week of Sept. 12, the sub-contractor hired by Rock Road for curb and gutter and concrete construction, Parisi Construction Co., continued forming and placing concrete sidewalk and driveways on 8th and 9th Street from the Wisconsin 69 to 14th Avenue and on 13th Avenue from 10th Street to 9th Street. They installed approximately 1,000 feet of concrete sidewalk. Parisi also placed 750 square feet of 10-inch thick, colored and stamped concrete crosswalks at the intersection of 13th Avenue and 9th Street.

This week, Rock Road Companies started fine grading the street base in preparation for asphalt placement. Rock Road is scheduled to start placing the first 3-and-a-half-inch lift of a 6-inch thick asphalt pavement on Saturday. They will start paving operations on 9th Street between 13th Avenue and 20th Avenue.

Next week, Parisi Construction Co. will be continuing with the placement of concrete sidewalks from 14th Avenue to 17th Avenue, and completing the gapped sections of sidewalk from 10th Avenue to 14th Avenue. Rock Road Companies will continue paving the first layer of asphalt from Wis. 69 to 20th Avenue.

They will also start filling in the terrace area between the curb and gutter and sidewalk from Wis. 69 to 12th Avenue, in preparation for final landscaping in this area. The electrical contractor, Westphal and Company Inc., is scheduled to start installing street lights and signal light poles from the Wis. 69 to 13th Avenue. There will be short delays during paving operations; your patience is greatly appreciated during this phase of construction.

Workers will be assisting traffic through the intersections as needed. All businesses are open during construction and ready for your patronage. Please feel free to call the engineering department at (608) 329-2532 if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
