MONROE - The Monroe Woman's Club Christmas Stocking Project is holding a coat drive to collect new and like-new children's coats during September and October. The new and like-new children's coat will be distributed to families in need prior to Christmas. Childrens' coats can be dropped off at Monroe One Hour Cleaner's at 1629 9th St., Monroe. All coats need to be in new condition with no stains, tears or broken zippers. Monroe One Hour Cleaners will donate the cleaning of all the coats that are donated.

The mission of Christmas Stocking, which was founded more than 60 years ago, is to help families in need have a Merry Christmas by providing food for a Holiday meal and gifts for the children.

Donations are accepted throughout the year and can be sent to Christmas Stocking Fund; 901 16th Ave.; Monroe, WI 53566.

Anyone interested in volunteering with Christmas Stocking can contact a committee member. The Christmas Stocking committee consists of family coordinators Mary Deininger and Alice Kranig; food coordinator Jennifer Spielman; treasurer and fundraising coordinator Kathy Reffue; cheer box coordinators Monda Hess and Nancy Pilz; and publicity coordinator Sue Barrett. Areas of help needed are toy drives, volunteer shoppers, cookie bakers and packing and delivering food boxes.
