FREEPORT — The 2021 Stephenson County Fair will take place Tuesday, July 27 to Saturday, July 31.
The FHN Grandstand line-up is the following:
- Tuesday and Wednesday, July 27 and 28: Midwest Summer Nationals Tractor Pulls featuring Lucas Oil Pro Pull League and Badger State Tractor Pullers starting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 7 p.m. on Wednesday
- Thursday, July 29: Youth Night starting at 6 p.m.
- Friday, July 30: Robbo’s Demo Derby starting at 6 p.m.
- Saturday, July 31: Lawnmower Races and Tough Truck Challenge starting at 6 p.m.
There is a daily Great Lakes Lumberjack show, Fabulous Faces face painting, Axe Throwing and an Escape Room. The fair wouldn’t be complete without all the commercial and food vendors to visit, including Baileyville Reformed Church’s lemonade stand, The Cheese Market, The Hog House, The Beef Corral, NorthSide BarbaQ, and all the pizza, corn dogs, cotton candy, elephant ears and other fair food you’ve been waiting for. Whether you’re craving meats or sweets, they have something for everyone.
Information is already on their website for the daily shows happening in the Entertainment & Rest (E&R) Tent including a demo by Hoo Haven Rehabilitation featuring live birds of prey. Star Ambulance will be there giving a demo on all that happens inside the ambulance and Freeport Rural Fire Dept. will be doing their extrication demo. The E&R tent also features live music each day and comes alive at 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with a family-friendly beer garden.
The fair wouldn’t be a fair without livestock, so visitors can attend the FFA, Jr. Open and Open livestock shows throughout the week with the livestock auction taking place on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and the 4-H Master Showmanship contest at 1 p.m. The Kiddie Tractor Pull will also take place on Saturday. Non-livestock exhibits also take place in the Home Ec building, including cake walks Tuesday through Friday.
It takes a lot of time and work getting everything prepared for the fair to happen each year. That’s why the Stephenson County Fair Association is so grateful for the numerous volunteers that help out with roles such as committee member, superintendent, judge, gate admission, grounds prep, traffic control, security, etc.
Their sponsors are another huge part of making the fair a success. Through the support of all these wonderful people and businesses, they are proud to call the Stephenson County Fairgrounds home.
