police accident ems

DEFOREST — On Wednesday, July 31, Wisconsin State Patrol troopers performed speed enforcement as part of the previously announced Speed Awareness Week.

Around 6:05 p.m., troopers were using air and ground assets in Southern Dane County as part of the targeted enforcement effort. A Wisconsin State Patrol aircraft tracked a motorcycle at 175 mph on I-39/90 northbound near mile marker 160 by Edgerton in Rock County, which is posted with a 70-mph speed limit.

The WSP aircraft followed the motorcycle after it exited the interstate and resumed normal roadway speeds. The WSP pilot guided a trooper on the ground to safely stop the motorcycle driver.

The driver was cited for reckless driving and for speeding 175 mph in a 70 mph zone.
