State tourism secretary to visit Green County

NEW GLARUS - Wisconsin Secretary of Tourism Kelli Trumble will be visiting Green County for an all-county tourism meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the New Glarus Hotel.

Trumble's presentation will address the Wisconsin brand campaign, as well as culinary tourism and the role Green County has played in culinary tourism initiatives. The presentation will be followed by time for questions and discussion with the audience.

As the third largest industry in the state, tourism brings $13 billion into Wisconsin. In 2008, tourism expenditures in Green County were nearly $43 million, resulting in a direct impact to local county government with more than $2 million in revenue.

Anyone with an interest in tourism, the tourism industry, and those working in tourism-related business are invited to attend.

Trumble has been head of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism since 2007. She serves on the National Council of State Travel Directors, the Wisconsin State Fair Park Board, and the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation. In the past, she served as executive director of the Wisconsin Dells Convention and Visitor Bureau, and also was founder of Sundara Inn & Spa in Wisconsin Dells.
