MADISON - Democratic candidates for president are bringing their neck-and-neck battle for the party's nomination to Wisconsin in anticipation of the state's primary election Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is scheduled to appear at a campaign rally Tuesday evening at the Kohl Center in Madison. The Kohl Center is located at 601 W. Dayton St. on the University of Wisconsin campus.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are not required and the event is free. Bags, signs and banners will not be permitted due to security.
Hillary Clinton has announced plans to headline a state Founders Day dinner event Saturday in Milwuakee. Obama has been invited, but has not yet accepted the invitation, the Associated Press reported today.
Clinton also accepted an invitation to debate at Marquette University in Milwaukee. No date has been set for the debate, which would be moderated by Geore Stephanopoulos of ABC and a former aide to Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton. Obama has not said if he will participae, the AP said.
Dr. Susan Kinast-Porter, the chairman of the Green County Democratic Party, said she is not aware of any other appearances by the candidates in Wisconsin. No events for the Green or Lafayette county area have been scheduled.
