MONROE - The royalty has been announced for St. Patrick's Day activities: Queen of the Green is Daniell Brunner, Celtic Princess is Amanda McGuire and the Grand Marshals are Jane and Kevin Monahan.

St. Patrick's Day activities start at 8:30 a.m. March 10 with the Green County YMCA's "Run before you Crawl" with the kid's race. The adult 5Krun/walk and 10k run begins at 9 a.m.

March 10 also holds many options for entertainment, including the 11th annual Flannigan's Shenanigans Celtic Pub Crawl. Michael Ganshert and Dan Stormont will kick off the crawl at 1 p.m. by playing the bag pipes. The first 300 crawlers to bring a donation for the food or pet pantry to registration-check-in will receive a gift.

Emily Paskar will be performing traditional Irish dance at noon at Friendly Inn and again at 1:45 and 5 p.m. at Suisse Haus. The band Reilly will be performing Celtic rock from 2 to 6 p.m. at Suisse Haus.

Monroe Lions Club members, participating Celtic Pub Crawl pubs and Heartland Graphics will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win cash, sponsored by the Monroe Lions Club. Green County EMS and the Tavern League will offer Safe Ride. Main Street's St. Patrick's Day Parade around the Square will start at 12:17 p.m. March 17. For more information or to participate in the parade, contact Veronica Bruce at 329-4204. John L. Nelson's name may not ring a bell, but there's a good chance you've heard some of his tunes. The Monroe Library will host the "You Laugh, You Lose!" comedy contest for all ages at 1:30 p.m. Contestants must register by March 9 at the library.
