Square sealing set to begin next week

MONROE - The City of Monroe Street Department announced Monday that it will be sealing the stamped concrete around the outside of the Square.

The department expects to do the work during the weeks of Aug. 16, Aug. 23 and Aug. 30, beginning on the north side and continuing in the direction of traffic flow doing one side at a time.

According to Tom Boll, Street Department supervisor, the concrete must be flushed with water and then be completely dry before the sealant can be applied.

The process depends on weather conditions and will take several hours to accomplish.

Boll asks the public to "please bear with us during this time" as the parking stalls with stamped concrete must remain closed until the sealant is totally dry. Drying time will also depend on weather conditions.
