MONROE - The Monroe Police Department notifies the public that parking downtown will be disrupted due to events Friday and Saturday.
There will be no parking on the Square after 3 p.m. Friday due to the Cars on the Square event from 4 to 9:30 p.m.
There will be no parking in the inner lanes of the south and east sides of the square from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to hold the Main Street Monroe Summer Kickoff event. These restrictions are in addition to the typical Saturday Farmers Market that uses the inside lanes of the west and north sides of the Square.
Signs on orange and white A-frame barricades indicating the parking changes will be posted for each lane.
These events are just the beginning of several events during the next few months. Motorists, especially those who live or work in or around the downtown Square, are asked to pay attention to any barricades or signs posted regarding parking changes so they can avoid the expense of a ticket or ticket and tow, or having to remove their vehicles immediately.
