MONROE - A South Beloit man was killed Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle and spun into the path of a semi trailer, according to Green County Sheriff's Department Lt. Richard Wyttenbach.

Arthur G. Hanaman, 65, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner's office. The crash took place on Wisconsin 11 west of Cadiz Springs Road in Cadiz township.

Deputies, along with the Monroe Police Department, Browntown Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene at about 6:15 p.m.

An investigation showed a Honda Civic driven by Hanaman was traveling west when it left the road. Hanaman turned the vehicle back into the westbound lane and the car began to spin out of control. The car crossed the center line and collided with the side of an eastbound 2000 Mack semi tractor driven by Ronald A. Tourdot, 47, Monroe.

The airbags in the Honda deployed and the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Tourdot was not injured in the crash.

The Honda received extensive damage.

This was Green County's second fatality of the year, Wyttenbach said.
