BLACK RIVER FALLS - A former Brodhead resident remains in custody after making his initial appearance Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court for charges related to the death of his ex-wife.
Douglas A. Sidie, 39, Hatfield, remains jailed without bail. His preliminary hearing is Dec. 17.
Sidie's ex-wife, Alisha, last was seen alive Nov. 7. Sidie told police she disappeared after they argued at their home the night before.
Alisha Sidie's body was found in a wooded area Nov. 15.
Jackson County officials said Sidie confessed to shooting his ex-wife and told authorities where they could find her body. He allegedly told investigators he shot her after she threatened to take their 2-year-old twin boys away.
Sidie is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, a class A felony, hiding a corpse, a class G felony, eight counts of obstructing an officer and one count of bail jumping, all class A misdemeanors. He faces life in prison, if convicted.
