BENTON - A Shullsburg man was killed after he crashed his motorcycle in Benton Township on Sunday morning.
Richard T. Barry, 59, of rural Shullsburg was traveling east on County W on a 1976 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to a news release from Lafayette County Sheriff Reg Gill. The motorcycle left the road and overturned; Barry was ejected.
The accident happened in the 28000 block of County W, just east of the intersection of Dump Road, at about 9:20 a.m.
Barry was declared dead at the scene.
Lafayette County Sheriff's deputies, Benton First Responders, Hazel Green EMS and the Benton Fire Department responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
It is the first traffic fatality of 2017 on Lafayette County roadways.
