DARLINGTON — A Shullsburg man already serving time for convictions of burglary and failure to pay child support was sentenced Sept. 16 for escaping the custody of the Lafayette County Jail while out on Huber work release.
Jeremiah John Hocking, 27, pleaded no contest to the Class H felony charge of escape and was sentenced to three years in prison and three years on extended supervision, consecutive to sentences in his other cases. He is currently at a state prison in Juneau County.
Hocking left the jail Nov. 17 to report for a shift at Mexican Cheese Producers in Darlington and never returned, according to court records. He was still missing 10 days later.
When a deputy went to the cheese factory to investigate, “an employee confirmed that Jeremiah Hocking was no longer there and that Jeremiah was supposed to be there in the morning but he never showed up.”
