DARLINGTON — Two sex offenders will be released
into the community in Darlington in coming weeks, according to police.
Matthew J. Buman, 47, and Charles S. Martelle, 55, will reside at 209 Main Street.
Buman's release date is July 9. Martelle's release date is July 23. Both will be on electronic monitoring and are barred from unsupervised

contact with children, consuming alcohol or drugs and patronizing taverns.
Buman was found guilty at a jury trial in 1995
in Lafayette County of two counts of second-degree sexual assault with use of
force and was sentenced to at least 16 years in prison. Court records indicate
he forced a woman to perform sexual acts after she gave him a ride in her car.
He also has more recent convictions including battery, theft and possessing
methamphetamine.
Martelle pleaded guilty in 1998 in Lafayette County to six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Wisconsin state court records show no other criminal convictions for Martelle. The records indicate that prior to prison he had address in Shullsburg.
Darlington Chief of Police Jason King announced the release of Buman and Martelle on Friday and said his department does not know much about either man.
