Sex offender sentenced to 20 years
John Tracy

MONROE — A Brodhead man was sentenced in Green County Circuit Court to 20 years in state prison for felony child sexual assault after he was convicted by a jury of abusing two children from 2006 to 2014 in Green County.

John Erwin Tracy, Jr., 46, received his sentence from Circuit Judge Jane Bucher, after being found guilty by a jury on three counts — repeated sexual assault of the same child, first-degree child sexual assault; and first-degree child sexual assault-intercourse.

In addition to the two-decade prison sentence, Tracy will serve 15 years of extended supervision — concurrently, on each of the three counts — through the state department of corrections.

The abuse occurred in several locations over the period including in Brodhead, Monroe, the Town of Spring Grove, and the Town of Decatur.

One of the victims was under 13 at the time she was touched inappropriately, while the other was abused periodically over the course of nearly a decade, from the age of about 4 to 13, according to a criminal complaint filed in Green County Circuit Court.
